Plain chocolate truffles

These chocolates can be found in all the best patisseries in Alessandria as well as throughout the rest of Piedmont given that our region is renowned for its real truffles. Given that the chocolates take on a slightly irregular shape, they are almost identical in appearance to the precious underground tuber. If they are rolled in cocoa powder they resemble the black truffle, if they are rolled in icing sugar and crushed hazel nuts, they take on the rugged form of the white truffle.
