LOCANDA FONTANABUONA

The history of this restaurant began twenty years ago, with the Gambaudo family's vision of focusing on quality dining in an area that was then becoming a wine hotspot. Thus, it can be said that Locanda Fontanabuona accompanied the rebirth of Barbera, and even today, reaching it is a pleasure to traverse the most suitable hills. You are in the heart of the Barbera d'Asti DOC, and to reach this restaurant, you can glimpse the vineyard-studded hills and the beautiful Le Orme su la Court park, designed by Michele Chiarlo in Castelnuovo Calcea (AT). The location is ideal, surrounded by greenery and with ample parking. Inside, the restaurant retains an old-world elegance, with beautiful wooden vaults, while outside, in summer, you can dine under the terrace.

The selection of dishes opens (appetizers €8) with a hand-chopped Fassone leg, veal with tuna sauce and Russian salad, or a delicate vegetable flan with creamed toma cheese. The first courses (€9) include potato gnocchi with Castelmagno cheese, classic Monferrato ravioli, and tagliolini with 30 egg yolks and sausage ragù, also available in a nettle version. Veal stew with Barbera wine is an excellent choice for the second courses (€11), as well as rabbit with olives and duck leg with balsamic vinegar, honey, and green pepper. To finish (desserts €4), a zuccotto with zabaglione and a warm chocolate flan. The wine list is impressive. A tasting menu is also available, which for €32 includes three appetizers, a first course, a second course, and a dessert.
