RAS-CIAMURAJE

It's the evolution of the old post station, where people would stop to enjoy some hearty dishes. Today, this Ras Ciamuraje, overlooking the town square, continues to offer a traditional menu of simple, well-executed dishes.
Appetizers (€8), starting with salami accompanied by a soft sgonfioncino, include tomato flan, battered zucchini flowers, anchovies in green sauce (or fried), pickled eel, and a small Piedmontese fried dish. For the first course (€6.50), the agnolotti are a must, along with Gragnano pasta dishes (paccheri, conchiglioni, and vermicelli) served with ragù or simply with pecorino and black pepper. The second course (€10) continues with braised beef in Cisterna d'Asti, rabbit roll with olives, and duck in Arneis. Even the desserts (€5) are not disappointing, with black cherry semifreddo and cream gelato with grape mustard. The friendly, prompt service and a well-stocked wine list, with a focus on local wines, which are part of a very small DOC, make everything even more enjoyable.
