OSTERIA DEL ROOSTER

A new Osteria with an informal and relaxed environment set in a small restored farmhouse of the early 900's found near the entrance of Montemagno in the direction of Asti. It is structured on two floors (the upper floor is reserved for having coffee or for while waiting for a table) with 45 seats and a dehor for the warmer season. In the kitchen the owners: Nuno, of Portuguese origin, and wife Barbara, Piedmontese born, who both now live in Montemagno where they have invested their lives, not forgetting mamma Elda who also lends a hand. In the dining room, a dynamic team with which they managed to win over a loyal customer base. Their intent was to create a simple and next-generation tavern where you can eat a tasty burger and spend a few hours playing cards after dinner. Here you will find chefs proposals featured on blackboards, and menus with dishes of Piedmont tradition, salami and cheeses . All the products are carefully selected from local producers. Their passion is meat, purchased directly from fassone breeders, the blonde hen from Villanova and the Carmagnola gray rabbit. Appetizers include the cabbage capunet and seasonal stuffed vegetables with three roasts and the gray rabbit tuna of Carmagnola. Followed by the first course, classics as the agnolotti with three meat roast, chickpea soup, tripe and pansotti (a typical pasta stuffed with chards, eggs and ricotta cheese)with seasonal vegetables. The meat prevails over the latter: Roulade of Villanova blonde rooster with seasonal vegetables, grilled Piedmont veal cutlet, braised Ruchè fassone and pure fassone burgers served with sesame bread and Raschera. All the desserts are freshly made, as is most of the pasta especially the agnolotti. Nuno loves fish so cod and other fish dishes are occasionally offered. The wine list is not extensive but satisfying, mainly local producers and some craft beers of Italian breweries are proposed. A tasting menu from 30 to 40 euros can be made by reservation.
