A must-see for anyone visiting Asti. Look for Via Brofferio 159, the address of the pastry shop where Daniela and Raffaella prepare artisanal cakes and small dry pastries daily using natural ingredients, some of which are butter-free and made with alternative flours. The Nocciolla, a butter- and flour-free hazelnut cake, is legendary; there are also crostata, cioccolatosa, mandorlata, amarettone with dark chocolate chips, and a classic plum cake with raisins and candied fruit. Then there are the Easter dove cakes and rustic cheesecake. The range of cookies in their beautiful blue-ribboned boxes is also delicious, from the butter-free Camporelli to the hazelnut and chocolate Piemontesi, to the cornmeal biscuits, and then there are the bacetti, sospiri, canestrelli, and assorted small pastries in baskets.
