AGRITURISMO SAN DESIDERIO

San Desiderio is a land of ancient parish churches and historic livestock fairs. Even today, like every year, the ritual of bringing the finest cattle to these hills for trading is repeated. A short distance from the site of this historic fair (which is actually a small church complete with a shelter for the cattle) stands the Merlo family business, a modern farm that has opened to the public with a variety of services. Today, many come up here for the riding stables, the shop selling Campagna Amica products, and the farm shop (primarily cured meats and meats), which you can also find in the village shop.
But people come here also and above all for the cuisine that will delight meat lovers. The menu will feature homemade cured meats, alongside peppers with anchovies and hand-chopped raw meat. This will be followed by tagliolini with mushrooms and ravioli del plin, before moving on to the meats: mixed boiled meats, baked beef tips, and lamb. The true specialty, however, is the asado, a cooking technique that makes the meat particularly tender. It's prepared by Asadores from Argentina, who use the meat of animals raised just a few meters away, semi-wild and slaughtered on site. Fresh and fragrant Roccaverano robiola cheeses are served before the house desserts, such as hazelnut cake, bonet cheese, and tarts. You'll be more than satisfied when you leave.
