Savoury mould of milk, cheese and onions with herbs

The name of this recipe probably comes from the dialect word for cake turta which is torta in standard Italian. It is a milk-based savoury pudding which contains eggs and aromatic herbs. Originally from the hilly Monferrato area, this country recipe is becoming increasingly more difficult to find. Furthermore, it has been altered over time by people living in towns. Originally, the milk used was the creamy one which had come straight from milking. Nowadays whipping cream is added to the full-cream milk.
