Pumpkin and apple cake from Monferrato

Pumpkins arrived in the Monferrato area during the Renaissance and spread very rapidly, they are mostly used in winter soups and a few desserts. You can hardly taste the pumpkin in this cake, some people say they can taste dried chestnut but there is none.
