Museo Diocesano San Giovanni
The "Spazio San Giovanni" is the first nucleus of the Cathedral's Diocesan Museum. The tour includes the hall of the former church of San Giovanni, the first early Christian cathedral in the city of Asti, and the underlying 8th-century crypt, connected to the hall by the underground south nave. Inside, works of considerable interest to the history of Asti are preserved, including the Gothic wooden choir from the Cathedral of Baldino di Surso (1477), silverware and vestments, 14th-century sculptures and bishops' tombstones, and Gandolfino's fresco depicting the Madonna della Barca. Starting Monday, June 22nd, the Diocesan Museum will be open to visitors any day of the week, Monday to Sunday, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
