In bici fra Sesia e Po

Along the rice paddies, passing typical farmhouses once inhabited by rice weeders and now often in ruins, you follow the gravel roads used for threshing rice, and you follow the banks of the Sesia River near the confluence of the two rivers. Starting from Trino Vercellese, from Piazza Garibaldi: Exit the square, turn right and pass in front of the bar. At the traffic lights, turn left and continue to the underpass of the SS455. Immediately after, turn left onto the dirt road that runs alongside the main road. Go past the visible Trino roundabout and turn onto the second dirt road (gravel road). Continuing, you pass in front of a ruined chapel and after about 600 meters, you reach the SS455. Turn right, you enter Robella. At the intersection with the SP20, in front of the church, turn left and continue until the next intersection. We go right towards “Torrione” (a typical example of a farmhouse used by rice weeders, with a military construction of great value, but in a poor state of conservation). We go down for 400 m to the church to take a look, then we retrace our steps and at the intersection, we turn right, initially asphalted and then Bianca. We stay on this road, it takes us to “Rive”. We enter following the directions of travel. In the main road we turn right and pass in front of the church. Leaving the village, we turn into the first road on the right. After two bends, we turn left and continue past the railway until we reach a farmhouse and turn immediately behind it. At the next farmhouse, turn left and you arrive on the SP25. Turn left and go to “Villanova”. and always on asphalt you reach “Motte De Conti”, you pass in front of the half-ruined Castle and in the main square, then turn right to exit the village and after the bridge on the “roggia Bona o Marcova”, take the second road on the left, you arrive on the embankment of the “ Sesia River”, turn right and continue passing under the bridge and take the SS596 dir, turn left and, after the bend and before the level crossing, turn left onto the dirt road, and continue until the asphalt begins, after a few meters turn left on the bridge of the Stura canal (!!) from here you arrive on the embankment that runs alongside the Po river and therefore at the gates of Casale Monferrato, at the end of the embankment turn right and go close to the bridge. From the level crossing, turn left onto a paved road that crosses the SP31 bis and leads to Casale Popolo. Continue on the main road that runs through the village towards Balzola, past the church, and after about a kilometer and the last houses of Cantone Corno, turn right onto the Cavalca ferrovia at the left-hand bend. The road becomes gravel (white) after 2 km. Approximately 1,500 m and without any detours, you'll arrive in Balzola, in front of the church. Take a look at the ruins of Palazzo Fassati (also known as the Old Castle), then head towards the square and turn right. Then turn right again into the first small street that passes in front of the rice mill and on the other side of Palazzo Fassati. Here, a dirt road begins. Continue straight ahead without detours. You'll arrive on the SP24, turn left, and Take the dirt road on the right marked Cascina Morabina. Continue and cross the SS455 and enter Trino Vercellese, passing in front of the cemetery.
