Castello di Piovera

The castle of Piovera was built over existing medieval remains and owes much of its current appearance to the Visconti of Milan, who transformed it into a mighty fortress in 1300. The castle passed to the Spanish, the French and from the Savoia to the Balbi before it was finally purchased by the current owner, Count Niccolò Calvi of Bergolo. Today, the castle is an articulated and highly scenic structure surrounded by a moat and a large park. Besides the numerous collections on show in the ancient granaries and in the medieval stables, transformed into an educational workshop, the owner holds creative art lessons. The cellars are an ideal location for tastings and exhibitions. The English garden offers various locations for events, weddings, business conventions; on board a vintage car and an original Red Bus, visitors can take a delightful trip around the park and explore it.
