NAPOLEON & THE UNESCO MONFERRATO
2 DAYS / 1
Alessandria
Description The connection of the city of Alessandria with Napoleon is palpable: the city still preserves the medieval star-shaped centre and the charm of a discrete town subjected to a deep change, even after Bonaparte’s downfall.
Napoleon Bonaparte always remained connected to the memory of Marengo and his body in Saint Helena was wrapped in the blue cloak he wore on 14 June during the Battle which, won after twelve hours, placed Lombardy, Piedmont, Liguria and the twelve fortified squares who defended these states under France and was of such intrinsic value that it was evoked in 1805 by the same
First Consul.
To follow, starting from Alessandria, ideal gateway to Monferrato, the route takes us to discover the small village of Rosignano Monferrato with its infernot UNESCO heritage sites and the route of Angelo Morbelli who was one of the most representative protagonists of Italian Divisionism.
